The Early Hours Of The Morning

The early hours of the morning…. Or midnight they say

A time to
A time for the loner who is even more alone at this time

For the poet who can’t sleep because their words are alive with words for someone who’s not there
For the writer trying to string words together just to make sense
For the student trying to strive hard to succeed
For people with unholy intentionsScreenshot_2017-08-15-15-29-58
For the heartbroken still struggling to come to terms with reality
For adventures only as wide and wild as your imaginations
For the midnight worker trying to make ends meet
Screenshot_2017-08-15-15-30-35For a woman trying to sing her child to sleep
For the insomniac as sleep eludes him nights are also for dreamer
For riding unicorns with your head nestled in your pillow

For Dreaming and Believing
For Lovers

Yet to some is just that time of the morning and another hour of the clock
Which to one goes by too slow or another which goes by too fast …

The early hours of the morning

In the name of Allah, we praise him, seek his help and ask for forgiveness( in the course of this post and other affairs). Whoever Allah guides none can misguide and whoever he allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah alone, and we also bear witness that the Prophet Muhammad( S. A. W) is his slave-servant and the seal of his prophets.

lslam – Submission to Allah.

Islam is a religion that believes in only one God (Allah), the teachings and beliefs are written out in the Quran (holy book)

The Quran

And the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ( Peace be upon him and his entire household, Salalahu Alayhi Wasalam- a supplication that is normally associated with the last messenger ) and whoever practices the religion of Islam is a MUSLIM. Muslims are often identified by greeting one another with; Assalamu Aleikum Waramatulahi Wabarakatuhu (May the peace, mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you and your entire household) which will be replied by Walaykum Salam Waramatuhulahi Wabarakatuhu (May the peace, mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you and your household too) or a simple As- Salam Aleikum(Peace be upon you) replied by Walaykum Salam (And unto you too).

We belief that there were 24 other Prophets before Muhammad (PBUH) , and they are; Adam, Musa (Moses), Isa(Jesus), Ibrahim(Abraham), Nuh(Noah), Idris(Enoch), Harun(Aaron), Dhulkifl(Ezekiel), Shu’aib(Jethro), Sulaymon( Solomon), Yunus(Jonah), Yusuf(Joseph), Ayyub (job), Yakub(Jacob), Dawud (David), Lut(lot), Hud(Heber), Salih(Methusaleh), Ismail (Ishmael), Ishaq(Isaac), Ilias( ilyas), Alyasa (Elisha), Zakariya (Zachariah), Yahya( John the Baptist). Peace be upon them all (Allayi salam- supplication associated with all prophets of Allah ). We also belief that all these prophets were given messages by Allah to preach the oneness of Allah in their communities at different times in history of mankind.

There are 5(five) pillars of Islam;

1. Shahada,Faith; This is testifying to the oneness of Allah,(in doing this) We say La Illah Illahu Muhammadu Rosullulahi Salalahu Alayhi Wasalam( We testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and Mohammad (S. A. W) is his last messenger.

  • The articles of faith are to believe in –

  • Allah,
  • His angels,
  • His messengers,
  • His revealed Books,
  • The day of resurrection, and
  • Al-Qadr, Divine Preordainments( that whatever Allah (Subuhanu Watahala) has ordained must come to pass).

2. To perform(iqamat) As-salat: Salat is the Islamic obligatory prayer and it consists of 5(five) daily prayer according to the Sunnah of the last Prophet (Muhammad S. A. W). It is a direct link between the worshipper and Allah( when observed with all sincerity and good intent).

These prayers are said at;

  • Dawn( Fajr),
  • Mid-day(Suhr),
  • late- afternoon (Asr),
  • Sunset(Magrib) and
  • Nightfall (Ishai)

These prescribed prayers contain verses of the Quran, and are said in Arabic(the language of the revelation). It is preferable to worship in congregation(maybe a mosque or anywhere else; offices, schools, factories, any clean place), headed by an imam(someone who leads in salat, usually a Male) or individually. Personal supplications can however be said in one’s language and at any time.

There’s always an Adhan (call to prayer) for salat which always (should be) uttered in a loud, albeit, sweet melodious voice by a MALE to announce to the Muslim faithful that it is time for the obligatory prayer and invites them to perform Salat :

Allahu Akbar – Allah is the Greatest

Allahu Akbar – Allah is the Greatest

Allahu Akbar – Allah is the Greatest

Allahu Akbar – Allah is the Greatest

Ashadu anla ila illalah- I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah

Ashadu anla ila illalah – I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah

Ashadu anna Mohammada rosululah – I bear witness that Mohammad is the messenger of Allah

Ashadu anna Mohammada rosululah – I bear witness that Mohammad is the messenger of Allah

Ayalal salat – Hasten to the prayer!

Ayalal salat – Hasten to the prayer!

Ayalal fala – Hasten to real success!

Ayalal fala – Hasten to real success!

Allahu Akbar – Allah is the Greatest

Allahu Akbar – Allah is the Greatest

Allahu Akbar – Allah is the Greatest

Allahu Akbar – Allah is the Greatest

La illaha illah la – There is none worthy of worship except Allah

Muslims prostrate in Salat

3. To pay Zakat ( charity, Sadaqah , alms-giving ): Zakat is the financial obligation for Muslims who are able to do so. It is a purification and growth because it allows an individual to achieve balance and new growth. It is the personal responsibility(expected) of each Muslim(able) to ease the economic hardship of others and to strive towards earning inequality and do so preferable in secret. The Prophet S. A. W said “whatever good your right hand does, your left hand must not know of”, this means that it would do you good not to go around broadcasting of the good you did for(to) someone .

The Prophet (S. A. W) said ; Even meeting your brother with a cheerful face is an act of charity. He also said Charity is a necessity for every Muslim.

4. To observe Saum(fast) during the month of Ramadan : Every year in the month of Ramadan, all Muslims are expected to fast from Dawn till Dusk -abstaining from food, drink and sexual relation with spouses except those who are on a journey, sick, or elderly, women who are menstruating, breastfeeding, or pregnant are permitted to break the fast and make up an equal number of the day(s) later in the year(before the next Ramadan).

Allah says in Quran 2:183:” O you who believe, fasting was prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you that you may learn self-restraint.”

Fasting is mainly a method of self-purification. It is meant to allow Muslims to seek nearness to their lord and to look for forgiveness from him,and also to express gratitude and dependence on him. He alone is their guide and saviour. During Ramadan, Muslims are expected to follow Islam teachings by refraining from violence, gossip, lust, finding fault in others, profane language, anger, backbiting, greed, envy and to get along with fellow Muslims better. In Ramadan, it is believed that the devils are chained and the gates of Jannah(heaven) is opened and whatever deed you do during this time is multiplied(good or bad). All irreligious and obscene sounds and sights are to be avoided. The end of Ramadan is celebrated by a festival called Eid-Al-fitr (which we often call itunu awe in this part of the world).

5. To perform Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah) : The pilgrimage to Makkah is an obligation once in a life time(you can go as many times are you are capable of but the obligatory is once) for those who are physically and financially able to do. The annual Hajj is performed in the twelfth month of the Islamic calendar. The pilgrims wear special simple clothes which strip away distinctions of class and culture so that all stand equal before God ( White colour for Male and preferably Black for Female). The rites of the Hajj include circumventing the Kaabah 7(seven) times (the place where Muslims face while praying from all the distinctions of the world)

House of Allah-Ka’bah

The Prophet Muhammad S. A. W said “Allah sends down 120mercies each day and night on this House (of Allah) , 60 for those doing tawaf(circumventing), 40 for those performing salah and 20 for those looking at it”. (At-Tabarānī)

And going 7(seven) times between the hillocks of Safa and Marwa. On the second day of Hajj, the pilgrims stand together in Mount Arafah to seek forgiveness and ask for what they wish from Allah. The end of the Hajj is marked by a festival Eid-Al-Adha(often called ileya in this part of the world) , which is celebrated with prayers and a sacrificial lamb. Eid-Al-Adha and Eid-Al-Fitr are the two annual festivals of the Muslim calendar.

Sacrificial lambs

As Muslims we are expected to Pray Right Away, Stay Calm and Composed, Spread the Good Word, Smile, Be Humble, Intend Allah, Reflect on your faults, Mend Hearts and Spread Love, Speak the truth, Keep your good deeds private, be patient, lower your gaze, learn and spread the message .

Clutter is no more than postponed decisions -Babara Hemphill.

Disclaimer : This is not what I’ve tried personally but I hope to do soon.

Embracing a Minimalist Lifestyle can mean a healthier body, mind and home. If you’re a bit of hoader or just attached to some of your stuffs (understandable Yh? ) Minimalism can be a bit intimidating at first. Decluttering can be a very awesome thing when it happens and you need to keep being motivated (probably by seeing others progress or something else). If you’re a consistent person, seeing the numbers on your scale increase (from 1-2-3 ati be be lo) will surely motivate you to keep going.

A quick summary of the game is that you get rid of 1 item on the first day (probably the first day of the month), 2 items on the second day, and so on until you get rid of 30 items on the 30th day. If you’re doing this as a person you get rid of 465 item at the end of 30 days. The game helps us recycle, donate and trash items. In trashing, you need to ask yourself questions like; Have I used this in the past year? If I were shopping right now, would I buy this? Do I have a similar item that serves the same purpose? Is the only thing that is keeping me from trashing this item that I don’t want to waste money? Am I holding on to this for sentimental value? Do I have a realistic plan to use this? Am I holding on to the broken item to fix in future? Does it fit me or my living space? You don’t necessarily have to trash it, you can donate and recycle too.

Make a list of things you don’t need; It could be a worn out piece of clothing(bras, boxers, pants. Yards of ankara, shirts, tops, jeans ), worn out shoes, bags, an old battery, empty bottles, a broken pen, used books, old tooth brush, packaging for an old phone, hotel supplies, hangers that come with dry cleaning, an old fan, old phone, shopping bags, calenders from years ago, just any item sitting down unused. If you haven’t used an item in over a year then its probably just taking up space. Take note of unnecessary items and be willing to let go.

Tbh it’s all worth it, is it the way you feel when you walk your front door? Or the way you feel confident that everything you have is now functional and beautiful? That you’re (officially) clutter free? That your home is no longer a burden or source of stress? It all worth it…. I CHALLENGE YOU TO THE 30DAY MINIMALISM GAME.

Thank you for reading and I hope this helps someone. As I have said, this isn’t what I have tried personally but I hope to soon. It’s a reminder for me; as I still live with my parents and We’re all hoarders. Trust me I have a clutter full room, I still have books from my primary school – secondary school and even items I used when I was very much younger ( you see why I need the Minimalist lifestyle?).

Who am I? What am I?

I Am a Light both dim and bright

I Am a Height both tall and short

I Am a Weight both heavy and light

A little Naughty a little Nice

I cannot tell you that I do not get tired but I can tell you for sure that I’ll Never give up. Never!!!

I Am a Female and not an E-Male

I Am Human and not In-human

I Am a girl Child and not a Mere child

As for my silence i have never regretted it but for my speech I have regretted it over and over again.

What If I Fall? What If I Fail?

Be that girl who wakes up with intent.

Be that girl who shows up and never gives up.

Be that girl who believes anything is possible and is willing to work for it.

Who am I?

The light in your darkness?

The darkness in your light?

The strength in your weakness?

The weakness in your strength?

I Am a Me with flaws and flaws and flaws… Be Nice,  Be Happy and Stay Good
